Interfaith-Multifaith Initiative of the Gippsland Ethnic Communities Council (GECC)

AN INITIAL MEETING:  Date: Sunday 26th February 2012, 3.00pm to 4.30pm
Location: Waratah Restaurant, cnr Monash Way & Princes Highway, Morwell

A number of the faith traditions have expressed interest in the formation of Interfaith- Multifaith Network under the banner of the GECC covering Gippsland. It is proposed to have an Initial Meeting on Sunday 26th February 2012 to explore the feasibility of facilitating this interest. The GECC wishes to establish a network steering committee to assist with and to develop greater interfaith co-operation in Gippsland.

You and/or your representatives are cordially invited to attend this meeting.

This is an opportunity for you and members of your faith tradition to meet other community and faith representatives, to confirm or add to the emerging purposes of the Interfaith-Multifaith Network and consider formal formation of such a Network such as many others in Victoria.

The GECC has a proud commitment to welcoming refugees and asylum seekers and making Gippsland a welcoming and inclusive place and it is considererd that a Gippsland Interfaith-Multifaith Initiative will enhance this situation and further the development of community harmony, education and quality of life.
 
The agenda for the day will include, the GECC vision for interfaith activity, definition of interfaith-multifaith principles, benefits for Gippsland, the way forward, addresses from practicing Interfaith specialists and question time.
 
A vegetarian afternoon tea will be provided.
