The Buddhist Path of Compassion to World Peace

The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion will host The Buddhist Path of Compassion to World Peace, a full-day international symposium on Saturday, 21 March 2026, bringing together Buddhist leaders, scholars, and community representatives from Australia and overseas to explore compassion as a guiding principle for peace in today’s world.

Jointly presented by the Tibet Information Office and the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, the symposium will offer prayer, dialogue, and shared wisdom across diverse Buddhist traditions. Set within the spiritually rich environment of the Great Stupa, the event will provide a meaningful opportunity for reflection, learning, and connection, highlighting compassion as a practical force for positive change in the global community.

The program will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers travelling from India, Sri Lanka, Korea, Vietnam, and Australia, including:

  • Geshe Lhakdor, Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, and former translator to His Holiness the Dalai Lama
  • Ian Green OAM, Chairman of the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion
  • Karma Singye, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama
  • Maree Edwards MP, Speaker of the Victorian Parliament
  • Most Venerable Kallanchiye Rathanasiri Thero, Chief Incumbent of Abhayagiri Maha Viharaya, Sri Lanka
  • Ven. Ronrawee, President of Dhammakaya Communities in Australia
  • Ven. Thich Nguyen Tang, Abbot of Quang Duc Monastery
  • Chi Kwang Sunim, Abbess of the Seon Centre
  • Ven. Thubten Chokyi, Director of the International Mahayana Institute of FPMT Monastics and Chair of the Australian Sangha Association

The symposium will include addresses, panel discussions, and opportunities for audience engagement, offering diverse perspectives on compassion, harmony, and ethical living. The event is designed for both practicing Buddhists and members of the wider community, reflecting the universal relevance of its theme.

The Buddhist Path of Compassion is open to the public and invites everyone to participate in this globally significant gathering at one of the most important Buddhist sites in the Western world.
