First Steps of Peace | United Nations International Day of Peace 2016

Come and celebrate the international day of peace by having a picnic in the park and taking a walk through Darebin Parklands in Melbourne! You are invited to walk the Darebin Spiritual Healing Trail: A gift from the Aboriginal community as a gesture of Reconciliation. The Spiritual Healing Trail aims to promote good health by improving our emotional and spiritual well-being and our sense of being connected to the land, to others, and to ourselves.

  •  Venue 1: (11am-1.30pm): Darebin Parklands, Separation St, Alphington (Melways 31C9)
    At this site: enjoy BYO vegan picnic lunch, one minute of silence (at 12pm), and walk the late Uncle Reg Blow's Spiritual Healing Trail. The Healing Trail was a gift from the Aboriginal community as a gesture of reconciliation and aims to promote good health by improving our emotional and spiritual well-being and our sense of being connected to the land, to others, and to ourselves.
  • 1.30pm, travel to Venue Two
  • Venue 2: (1.45pm-2pm): Darebin Community Monument, in Ray Brahman Gardens, behind Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre, Corner Bell Street and St Georges Road, Preston. (Melways 30E1)
    At this site: a brief ceremony commemorating all the victims of genocide and other atrocity crimes.

Dress code: Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes
