Hanukkah (also spelt Chanukah), also known as the Festival of Lights, commemorates the recapture and rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in the time of the Greeks. Oil lasted for 8 days and nights. Lights are kindled on a 9 branched candlestick called Menorah.
