Description: Kathina is a Theravadan Buddhist festival which comes at the end of Vassa, the three-month rainy season retreat. It is a time of giving where the laity express gratitude to the monks and nuns by offering them new robes and other necessities. Also, a time for Buddhists to give money to the poor or needy, called giving alms.
