Back to the Future: Jewish Christian Muslim Association of Australia

The Jewish Christian Muslim Association invites you to:

“Back to the Future: The Condition of Jewish Belief (1966)”

Date: Tuesday 14 June 2022      Time: 7pm to 8:30pm
Location: Online via Zoom

In 1966, Commentary Magazine published 38 essays on The Condition of Jewish Belief. It focused on five questions and invited a number of rabbis, theologians and philosophers to reflect on the state of Jewish belief.

In a “Back to the Future” time-warp, our June discussion group will look at three of the 38 essays by: Eliezer Berkovits, Emil Fackenheim and Jacob Neusner and reflect on how much has changed in the last 56 years?

We will seek to learn something about the nature of Jewish belief today from a time when religious belief across the Western world was changing radically. We hope to stimulate discussion around the way that not only Jewish belief but also Christianity and Islam has been challenged by “modern” outlooks.

Please take the time to read some of the essays before the discussion. Download here the reading for this months online discussion: The Condition of Jewish Belief , an edited version of the source document with the introduction and three of the included articles.

To Register: Eventbrite

Cost: Free
