Safety & Respect Call to Action Forum

Date: Wednesday 24 July 2019     Time: 6pm to 8:30pm
Location: Matsudo Room, Box Hill Town Hall, 1022 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill VIC 3128

This event will celebrate the achievements of the Inner East Faith Communities Unite for Safety and Respect project. Participants will hear from remarkable speakers and participate in round table discussions to generate ideas for future individual, community and collective action.

We invite all faith and community leaders and representatives from Monash, Whitehorse, Manningham and Boroondara to participate in a “call to action forum”. The Forum aims to engage and inspire people to take action to prevent family violence. You will hear from people with lived experience of family violence, its impacts and how they became advocates for change. You will also learn about what other faith communities are doing, their learnings/challenges, and opportunities to support one another.

Faith Representatives for Panel Members include:

  • “The Child’s Experience of family violence: then and now” with Anissa Gracie, Speaking Out Advocate,
  • Community Safety Officer – Manningham Council
  • A Man’s Perspective with Tarang Chawla, Our Watch Ambassador, Survivor Advocate, Legal Policy Commentator, Writer, Storyteller
  • Faith Communities Council of Victoria Representative.
