Interfaith Representatives Procession and Blessing
Date: Saturday 27 May 2017 Time: 1pm to 2pm
Location: Procession begins at Parliament Gardens and ends at Melbourne Town Hall
Vesak is the major Buddhist observance and commemoration. It is also known as ‘Vishakha Puja’ or ‘Buddha’s Day’. The celebration of Vesak is when Buddhist’s here in Victoria, around Australia and the World observe and recollect the Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and passing away.
It is commemorated annually by the United Nations to acknowledge the contribution which Buddhism, one of the world’s oldest religions, has made for over 2600 years and continues to make to the spirituality of humanity and fostering of world peace.
