Religions for Peace Australia supports the construction of Mosques in regional Australia. The Chair of Religions for Peace, Professor Des Cahill of RMIT University, said recently that there are many challenges to be met in rural interfaith and intercultural relations in Australia.
On Friday 7th March 2014, International Women’s Day was celebrated by over 100 women at the Uniting Church in Dandenong, an event jointly organised by the Women's Interfaith Network Foundation (WIN), Australian Hazara Women’s Friendship Network (AHWFN), and the Victorian Immigration & Refugee Women’s Coalition (VIRWC).
On Sunday 23rd February 2014, Frankston Interfaith Network (FIN) led a bus tour from Frankston to the Immigration Museum in Melbourne to see the Faith, Fashion, Fusion exhibition followed by an afternoon visit to the Mission to Seafarers.

AN anti-Islamic group is mobilising against Ballarat’s first mosque. Restore Australia, which describes Islam on its website as a “aggressive totalitarian political ideology”, plans to letterbox people in Ballarat to “mobilise people to write to the council” to oppose the building of a mosque at 116 Elsworth Street East in Ballarat.The Islamic Society of Ballarat has purchased the property and been granted a planning permit by the City of Ballarat.
