On Tuesday 9 December 2025, the Faith Communities Council of Victoria convened Victoria’s peak faith bodies for a roundtable discussion on Creating an Inclusive Narrative. The event was held in partnership with the Australian Baha’i Community, which is currently undertaking a national initiative to foster social cohesion by exploring Australia’s shared identity, values and future through a series of nationwide roundtables.
Among the thousands at the “Rising Tide Protestival” last weekend at the Port of Newcastle were Sisters of Mercy, Christian Ministers, Brothers, Buddhist teachers, Quakers and many other people of faith. They joined people from all walks of life and, for a few hours, successfully stopped coal ships from going into and out of the port. It was a brief but important symbolic victory, showing our collective deep concern for the future of our common home.
