The Boroondara Interfaith Network partnered with The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’i of Boroondara to offer this special event of live music, audio-visual pieces and readings from faiths and philosophers, authors, leaders and indigenous cultures, from around the world. Annette Subhani, Heather Pym and Ruby Haddad worked the Boroondara Interfaith Network conveners to make this event possible.

The format and program was loosely based on Soul Food - a unique free monthly event offered by the Baha’i community that aims to inspire us to transform our lives, through an opportunity to unite in a tranquil environment and reflect on inspiring themes and common threads that tie us all together.  For more information please visit: www.soulfood.com.au

Our event added a new dimension to this program by inviting readers from the Boroondara faith communities to offer readings from their own tradition. The range of voices, in age, gender, culture and ethnicity, as well as religious affiliation was a real demonstration of unity in diversity. The program of readings was made more beautiful by the live guitar accompaniment and   songs by Tom Francis. Tom’s music is soul infused folk, his lyrics are a crucible of suffering and hope with beautiful, unique melodies, lovely harmonies and a gorgeous voice.

The slide show Visions of Oneness presentation, created by Annette, set the atmosphere with poignant imagery and quotations:  The delicious afternoon tea set amongst autumnal decorations, provided by Karen, was a lovely setting for regular members and new participants of the Boroondara Interfaith community to enjoy each others company.
