On the 17th of July, Box Hill Community Arts Center came alive with sounds of spiritual chanting, presented by members of multiple faiths from the local community during the Spirituality Through Arts Program organised by the Whitehorse Interfaith Network with the support of City of Whitehorse council.
The Whitehorse Interfaith Network is an inclusive community open to people of all faiths who are committed to facilitating understanding, acceptance, harmony, cooperation and trust within the community, and believe that faith should be a unifying force in all communities.
This free public forum brought together people of different faiths allowing an opportunity for them to share how they, in thier tradition, express spirituality through the arts. The event successfully provided the audience with an opportunity to learn from the wisdom of all faith traditions that were presented.
Following the presentations, the presenters and audience continued the spiritual experience through dialogue over scrumpcious refreshments, facilitated by volunteers from the Melbourne Ismaili community as well as the Whitehorse Interfaith Network members and their families.
By all reports this event was a success, exemplary of a pluralistic society celebrating commonalities.
