On 15 March 2016, the Victorian Government announced the opening of two new grant programs: the Community Harmony Program 2016-17 and the Capacity Building and Participation Program 2016-17.

Capacity Building and Participation Program: The Capacity Building and Participation Program is designed to build the knowledge and skills of multicultural communities across Victoria to fully participate and contribute to everyday life in Victoria. 

Community Harmony Program: The Community Harmony Program is designed to enable Victorians to build social cohesion and community harmony through preventative initiatives that address the root causes of social disharmony and racial, ethnic and religious intolerance.

Key Dates

• Applications open (all): Tuesday 15 March 2016 
• Small and Large Grants - Community Harmony Program applications close: Sunday 17 April 2016 
• Small and Medium Grants -  Capacity Building and Participation Program applications close: Sunday 17 April 2016 
• Strategic Partnerships Grants -  Capacity Building and Participation Program applications close: Sunday 24 April 2016

There will also be two more grant programs opening shortly: the Multicultural Festivals and Events Program 2016-17 and the Community Infrastructure and Cultural Precincts Program 2016-17. Please see www.multicultural.vic.gov.au for more information.

Community Information Session

The Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship (OMAC) will be running an information session on current multicultural grant programs.

 The focus of this session will be the Community Harmony Program and the Capacity Building and Participation Program. 

The session will be held at Treasury Theatre, 1 Macarthur Street, on Thursday 17 March 2016 from 5:45pm to 7:30pm (attendees are asked to arrive at 5:30pm).
