Support JCMA By Making a Donation Today

The Jewish Christian Muslim Association of Australia (JCMA) is a not for profit organisation and relies on donations to help fund the schools programs and JCMA events.   As a listed harm prevention charity any gifts and donations made to JCMA are fully tax deductable and any donations made before June 30th are deductable in this financial year.

Why Our Work Is Needed

Ignorance of other peoples’ religious beliefs and practices is a cause of much misunderstanding and prejudice  and in our diverse multicultural society good relations between people of faith is essential.  As members of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim Abrahamic faiths we have been seeking to learn and understand more about each other through a variety of forums, conferences, programs and events since 2003.  We work together to build strong interfaith relations based on trust and friendship and continue to support each other when confronted with instances of racism, anti-Semitism and Islamaphobia.  

Through our JCMA schools education programs we continue to work with young people to promote greater acceptance of diversity and difference in our schools and challenge some of the typical stereotypes and prejudices.  Our aim at JCMA is to prevent emotional and physical abuse arising from religious intolerance and cultural discrimination

JCMA Programs

1. JCMA Events and Activities

‘Maintaining Social Cohesion in Australia Forum’, 31st May 2015: The aim of the forum was to identify what are some of the challenges, what’s currently working and what new initiatives and programs can we develop that will support and maintain strong interfaith relationships in our Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities.    

Understanding Head coverings – A Jewish, Christian Muslim perspective:  this women’s only event in partnership with Benevolence Australia explored common themes and differences for women of faith wearing head coverings.

Model Jewish Seder Meal at the Uniting Church Frankston: an experience of the Jewish celebration of Passover for a better understanding of the Jewish Faith.

Other Events include; Joint Journey to Jerusalem: participants sharing their experiences of the three faiths traveling and living together on a trip to Jerusalem in May 2014.  Islamic Museum Tour: a tour and lunch at the Islamic Museum at Thornbury. Monthly faith sharing groups: JCMA members connecting, sharing and learning about each others faith.

2. JCMA Community Leaders Forums:

Jewish, Christian and Muslim community leaders meet regularly at the JCMA Peak Bodies meetings to share information and work together to address key issues and challenges affecting our communities.

3. JCMA Schools Program

A Jewish, Christian and a Muslim presenter deliver a 90-minute workshop to primary and secondary school students and their teachers. The program challenges some of the typical stereotypes and prejudices young people may hold and students and teachers gain a better understanding of the diversity of different faiths and cultural traditions.  

This powerful education program shows people of faith can peacefully coexist and work together promoting greater tolerance and acceptance of diversity and difference in our schools and in the wider community.
