On Monday 9th of July 2012, eight representatives from Western regions of Victoria met at Brimbank City Council to discuss isssues relating to Interfaith Networks. The meeting was convened by the Faith Communities Council of Victoria and hosted by Brimbank & Maribyrnong Interfaith Network.

Present at the meeting were:

  • Mete Temurcin, Community Planning & Development, Brimbank City Council (Brimbank Interfaith Network)
  • Geoff Wraight, Baptist Pastor (Maribyrnong Interfaith Network)
  • Sara Ferdowsi, Diversity Planner & Partnerships Officer, City of Moonee Valley (Moonee Valley Interfaith Network)
  • Jacqui Croxon, Social Planning, Wyndham City Council (Wyndham Interfaith Network)
  • Randall Apps, Vice Chair of Geelong Interfaith Network (Geelong Interfaith Network)
  • Brigid Walsh, Ballarat Interfaith Network (Ballarat Interfaith Network)
  • Adamu Tefera, Intercultural Development Officer, Melton Shire Council
  • Tatiana Walker, Community Development Officer, Hobsons Bay City Council

The meeting provided an opportunity for each representative to ouline their interfaith network's history, type of multifaith/interfaith programmes they have been conducting in their region, relationship between council and interfaith network, cultural demographics and faith traditions represented. Councils which did not have an operating interfaith network discussed demographics and multifaith issues within their region.

The meeting concluded with an agreement amongst those present to establishing a Western Region Interfaith Networks Group which will meet every couple of months to discuss ongoing multifaith/interfaith issues in the region.
