The National Council of Jewish Women of Australia (Vic) invites you to:
A Model Passover/Pesach Seder
Location: 131-133 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield, VIC
Every year the National Council of Jewish Women of Australia (Vic) runs a Model Passover/Pesach Seder for women of different faiths. Explanations are given about the traditions and customs of this eight-day festival which commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. Women have the chance to also share experiences and stories from their own faiths and cultures and in this way, friendships are created and a greater understanding and respect for each other’s heritage is created.
This year we are once again planning an intergenerational focus so would like our participants to be girls about the age of 12 (Bat Mitzvah age) together with a significant female in their life such as mothers (grandmothers or aunts). In this way, we plan to introduce young girls to interfaith dialogue, as well as sharing the richness of intergenerational relationships and the passing on of family and faith traditions.
We envisage Jewish, Muslim, Christian (of different denominations) and other faiths being represented in mother-daughter pairs. We welcome the community to participate in this unique experience. Well known teacher and educator Frances Prince will facilitate the evening.
The event is partnered with United Jewish Education Board and supported by the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
The evening includes a light vegetarian meal incorporating some Passover/Pesach dishes.
