Turban tying workshop: Khalsa Education Society Australia

Ever wondered why Sikhs wear turbans? Learn about the identity of Sikhs and how to tie a turban in this special live workshop, proudly presented by the Victorian Multicultural Commission in collaboration with the Khalsa Education Society.

What's it all about?

This session aims to raise awareness about the unique identity of Sikhs and the significance of the turban through which the values of love, faith, equality and social justice are shared.

This class will include a turban tying presentation and talk about different Sikh turban styles.

For every Sikh, the turban represents pride, honour, legacy and the crown gifted to them by Sikh Gurus. It stands for equality, justice and humanity, and not just a piece of cloth which is tied around the head. The turban is a quintessential part of Sikh identity and represents the most pertinent element of the Sikh Faith – that all people are equal irrespective of caste, religion, country. The turban gives strength and identity to a Sikh and induces the courage to face all odds, and a constant readiness to help and service humankind. This session therefore also aims to correct misconceptions about the turban.
