was adopted\, only 58 countries belonged to the United Nations. Today the
re are 192 member nations and many laws exist to protect human rights. Yet
millions of people continue to suffer because their rights are not respec
ted. Although the Universal Declaration protects the right to adequate foo
d\, more than 15000 children die of starvation every day. The Declaration
also protects the right to free speech\, but thousands are in prison for s
aying what they believed to be true. The Declaration forbids slavery\, but
27 million people live as slaves today – more than twice the number in th
e days of the slave trade. And more than a billion people are unable to re
ad\, although the Declaration includes the right to an education.\nThese a
re very serious abuses of human rights. Yet 90 percent of people are unabl
e to name more than three of their thirty rights. If more people understoo
d all of them\, more respect would be shown for human rights around the wo
rld. Who\, then\, will tell them?\nMeet others in our community dedicated
to human rights education and ending human rights abuse. United for Human
Rights and its program for young people Youth for Human Rights Internation
al form one of the broadest human rights education initiatives in the worl
 d.\nSupper providedRSVP: Maria | 0409046172 | mariascientologyvic@gmail.co
