DESCRIPTION:Brimbank &amp\; Maribyrnong Interfaith Network invite you to:\n
 &nbsp\;\nWalking the Labyrinth: A Spiritual ExperienceTime: 11am-12pm&nbsp
\; Date: Sunday\, 18th of November 2018Location: St. Albans Community Cent
re - 309C Main Rd E\, St Albans VIC 3021\n&nbsp\;\nThe Labyrinth is an anc
ient symbol known by numerous faiths and cultures. It has been described a
 s a path of prayer\, a walking meditation\, a crucible of change\, a water
ing hole for the spirit\, and even a mirror of the soul.\nLabyrinths can b
e used in various ways. Sometimes in just a general way - time out to refr
esh\, renew\, slow down\, refocus. Sometimes people have an issue or a dec
ision to make\, wisdom they require\, a heavy concern they are carrying\,
and they use the Labyrinth as a spiritual discipline seeking guidance or e
nlightenment.\nThe Labyrinth is not a maze. A maze is a puzzle to be solve
d\, it tries to trick and tease you. A Labyrinth has no tricks and no dead
ends. It has a single circuitous path that winds its way from the entranc
e to the centre and returns you back safely. Once you put your foot in\, t
he Labyrinth becomes your friend &ndash\; it will guide you in and out. Th
ere are no set rituals for walking a Labyrinth. It is a spiritual experien
ce\, so whatever is helpful for you is right.\nReverend Ray Gormann\, from
Brimbank &amp\; Maribyrnong Interfaith Network and Sunshine Uniting Churc
h\, will lead an introduction to this workshop followed by a silent contem
plation as we walk the Labyrinth.\nClick here to read further information

in how they implement the standards to meet the requirements.\nFrom 1 Janu
ary 2018\, religious and faith-based organisations are required to comply
with the Reportable Conduct Scheme and respond to allegations of reportabl
e conduct\, and misconduct that may include reportable conduct\, made agai
nst their workers and volunteers\, by investigating those allegations and
reporting to the Commission for Children and Young People.\nIf you are par

this is an information session to support your knowledge and implementatio

limate disruption and the last to be able to do something meaningful about
it. One response is Living the Change\, a multi-faith global campaign whi
ch draws on our spiritual beliefs and values to inspire lifestyle choices
which\, when aggregated with the actions of others\, will help limit globa
l warming.\nToday\, we know that climate disruption is hurting most those
who are already vulnerable\, and that Western greed is a large part of the
problem. Consumerism tells us we never have &ldquo\;enough&rdquo\;. Livin
g the Change calls on people of faith to lead in a global effort to re-set
what is regarded as enough. We want to promote lifestyles of gratitude fo
r life&rsquo\;s blessings\, lifestyles of care for the earth and all who d
epend on it.\nGiven that close to six billion people globally identify wit
h a religion (Pew Research Center\, 2017)\, the opportunity for these grou
ps to create meaningful change through collective action cannot be ignored
.\nWhat are religious people being asked to do? Ordinary people and commun
ities have the power to help keep emissions down and thereby help to prote
ct our common home. Through commitments in diet\, transportation\, and ene
rgy use\, Living the Change invites individuals to fortify healthy\, balan
ced relationships that help sustain the earth.\nBe part of our workshop an

ons working together to champion sustainable ways of living.\nFree Registr

 Community Centre - 309C Main Road East\, Saint Albans\, VIC 3021 (Flexible
Space 3)Free Registration: vinc.eventbrite.com.au\nFreedom of Religion an
d Freedom of Artistic Expression have been at loggerheads for ages in diff
erent parts of the world. \nReligious communities feel outraged when their
religious beliefs and sacred symbols are mocked\, insulted\, attacked or
vilified. Aggrieved believers argue that respect for beliefs and symbols i
s fundamental to and part and parcel of the right of Freedom of Religion.
\nOn the other hand\, the artists and creators of these controversial work
s argue that any law seeking to restrict their works amounts to a violatio
n of the sacrosanct right of Freedom of Artistic Expression.\nSo what happ
ens when the liberty to freely express oneself is at odds with another&rsq
uo\;s right to freedom of religion? Join our expert panel as they explore
the rationales underpinning the freedoms of expression and religion to det
ermine the boundaries and limits of each of these rights in a pluralistic\

our society and marketed as entertainment. But did you know Australians s
pend more per person on gambling than any other country in the world. In f
act we spend more money gambling than on any other dangerous activity incl
uding alcohol\, tobacco and illegal drugs\nGambling harm is a negative con
sequence\, caused or made worse by gambling\, that affects the health or w
ellbeing of an individual\, their family or community. The social costs of
gambling harm are enormous: bankruptcy\, homelessness\, family and person
al dysfunction\, domestic violence and countless other stories. And these
negative effects seem to fall disproportionately on the poor and disadvant
aged\, including culturally\, linguistically and religiously diverse commu
nities.\nWhat do the world&rsquo\;s great religions have to say about gamb
ling? What issues and concerns do faith communities face regarding gamblin
g harm\, and what primary\, secondary and tertiary approaches have they ta
ken to address these issues within their communities? And what practical r

pact of gambling on our society?\nFacilitator: Dr Mark Zirnsak\, Uniting C
