 news – registrations are now open to attend the inaugural national confere
 nce of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC)! ARRCC 
 is a multi-faith grassroots organisation dedicated to action to address th
 e climate emergency. The Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture is
  kindly offering their venue in Barton for free on the weekend of November
  8 – 10.\nThe Conference will be an opportunity to hone the skills and cap
 acity of people of faith to take action on the climate crisis more effecti
 vely. It will serve to:\n\nBuild knowledge\, skills and confidence to orga
 nise at a local level\, especially politically (nonpartisan)\nInspire peop
 le to act on the climate emergency\nEmpower people of diverse faiths to ta
 ke ARRCC-inspired action together\nHelp form and strengthen active local g
 roups\n\nConference participants will share and learn with the help of ins
 pirational campaigners\, skilled community organisers\, school climate str
 ikers\, faith leaders and experts in their fields. Academic speakers are P
 rof Lesley Hughes covering climate science today\; Assoc Prof Mehmet Ozalp
  and Dr Miriam Pepper on religious responses in the Islamic and Christian 
 traditions\, and Dr James Whelan facilitating discussion on the special ro
 le people of faith can play in addressing the climate emergency.\nJosh Cre
 aser from Tipping Point\, Tejopala Rawls\, Dr James Whelan and Thea Ormero
 d will facilitate workshops in community organising skills. There will be 
 plenty of opportunities to ask questions and contribute\, with breaks in w
 hich people can network with each other. When you leave\, you will be clea
 rer on where you might best contribute in your own contexts.\nDetails and 
 how to register\nRegistration of $120 concession\, $220 full price\, $260 
 passionate will cover all meals and tea breaks\, except breakfasts. Food p
 rovided will be vegetarian with vegan options. No alcohol will be served\,
  and a prayer room is available at the venue.\nThe conference does not hav

 t Guru Nanak Dev Ji:\nGuru Nanak Dev Ji 1469-1539 was born near Lahore\, n
 ow in Pakistan. His message is simple. He preached Oneness of God and Onen
 ess of Humanity. He said\; God is one. There is no other. Irrespective of 
 where we come from\, what is our ethnicity or religion\, we all believe in
  the One. All religions have their own route to achieve oneness with God.
 \nHe forged the various communities together into a force for good. God is
  the creator\, and is in the creation\, we are part of his creation as hum
 ans we are the crown of his creation\, and we have an opportunity to be on
 e with Him.\nHe preached equality of mankind The Grace of God can come to 
 the scholar\, the illiterate\, the high or the low\, rich or poor. It does
  not depend on caste or social classification\, knowledge\, wisdom or pena
 nce\, instead those who seek through\, love service and humility.\nHe rest
 ored women to their rightful equal place in society.\nGuru Nanak Dev Ji tr
 avelled for nearly 20 years throughout the subcontinent\, from Tashkent in
  Uzbekistan\, in the north to Sri Lanka in the South east to Assam\, north
  east to Nepal and Tibet\, west to Mecca\, Baghdad in Iraq. On his travels
  he carried his message of truth\, love\, peace\, humility and service. Gu
 ru Ji had two companions\, one was a Muslim musician Mardana and the other
  Bala a Hindu.\nDuring the last 20 years of his life he lived as a househo
 lder showing people the way.\nHis teachings are summed up in three simple 
 deeds: Always remember God\; Earn your lively hood through honest means\; 
 andShare with the needy.\nGuru Nanak Dev Ji’s philosophy is inclusive.\nHe
  was followed by nine other Sikh Gurus in succession who nurtured the fait
 h until 1708 when Guru Gobind Singh Ji the tenth Sikh Guru ordained the Si
 kh Holy Scripture Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji an eternal Guru of the Sikhs.\n
 What is unique with this scripture is that it contains the teachings thirt
 y-five authors including Sikh Gurus\; Hindu and Muslim Sains in the spirit
