  to motivate violent extremism? Do the Islamic sources promote and legitim
 ise violence towards non-compliant Muslims and non-Muslims? Does the probl
 em lie in the Religion?\nExtremist groups like ISIS use concepts of Islam 
 to justify their actions and recruit Muslims. Existing studies on radicali
 sation generally deal with causes and strategies to address violent extrem
 ism\, but lacks an authoritative Islamic response and refutation of radica
 l use of Islamic concepts.\nThe conference aims to explore the causes of r
 adicalisation from theological as well as sociological perspectives with a
 n objective to offer authentic theological responses and sociological unde
 rstandings of literalist/selective religious interpretations and radical n
 arratives. It is anticipated that such explorations will underpin the real
  causes of radicalism which can then open the pathway to addressing these
