DESCRIPTION:Australian Catholic University invites you to:\nJews and Christ
ians in the Quran: Who has power over God's bounty2021 ACU/PISAI Rome Lect
 ure\nDate: Thursday 20 May 2021&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\; Time: 8pm to 9pmLoc
ation: Online via registration\nThe 2021 ACU/PISAI Rome Lecture will be de
livered online by Professor Wilhelmus Valkenberg.&nbsp\;\nAbout this lectu
re\nSomeone who reads the Qur'ān from a Jewish or a Christian perspective
is likely to be struck by the special way in which this book seems to show
both a great familiarity with\, and a severe critque of\, these two relig
ions.\nProfessor Wilhelmus Valkenberg will argue from a close reading that
the Qur'ān employs a rejection of tradition-based exclusivism and relies
on the argument that God is ever able to bestow God's bounty on whomever G
od wants. In this\, Islam\, like Judaism and Christianity\, can be underst
ood as wrestling with the combination of commitment and openess\, convicti
on and humility as conditions for interreligious dialogue and comparative
theology.\nKeynote speaker\nProfessor Wilhelmus Valkenberg is the Director
of the Institute for Interreligious Study an Dialogue\, School of Theolog
y and Religious Studies\, The Catholic University of America.\nInformation
and registration\nPlease visit the website: www.acu.edu.au/2021romelectur
e for more information and to register to attend.\nRegistration via the we
bsite is essential\, and will close on Tuesday 18 May.\nIf you have any qu
estions about this lecture\, please contact Luminaries@acu.edu.au https://
