to:\nYour Faith Community and the Climate Strike\nDate: Friday 15 May 202
 0&nbsp\; &nbsp\;Time:&nbsp\;12pmLocation:&nbsp\;Carlton Gardens\, 1-111 Ca
rlton St\, Carlton VIC 3053\nIn towns and cities across Australia\, people
of all faiths will come together to make our voices heard and to say that
we need bold and urgent action on the climate crisis. We will be standing
together on the day of the strike.\nAsk others in your congregation to st
rike with youThe single most effective thing you can do is to ask other pe
ople from your faith community to turn out on the day with you. If we as p
eople of faith around the country asked just a few friends from our own co
ngregations to come with us\, we can make this thing huge.\nFor more infor

DESCRIPTION:The Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC) inv
ites you to:\nMultifaith service for the climate\nDate: Friday 15 May 2020
 &nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\; Time: 10amLocation: Virtual/online service on Zoom
(details provided below)\nOn May 15th there is going to be a nationwide c
limate strike led by school students. Like everything else at the moment\,
it's going to be online. But that isn't going to stop them from making it
huge.\nOf course\, this time it's different. This strike is taking place
in a vastly changed world. Yet this only highlights the need for change ba
sed on kindness and recognition of our obvious interconnectedness. We owe
it to these young people to make sure that they are not left trying to cop
e with something even worse than the current pandemic.\nThe message this t
ime will be even more positive than ever. The day will focus not only on w
hat needs to be stopped but also on an uplifting and positive vision of th
e future.\nLet's make sure we show our support as people of faith for the
school strikers and what they are calling for. There are a few things we c
an do listed in this email.\nBut the number one thing that will make the m
ost difference is to ask a few others in our own faith communities to get
involved in whatever we choose to do. Even if we each only ask a couple of
people\, this will make a huge difference.\nIf you take a minute to sign
up on the website we will send you information on how to organise in your
community easily and effectively. And by signing up it also helps us to kn
ow who is doing what\, which is enormously helpful.\nOn the day of the str
ike there will be multi faith nationwide online service to show that we ar
e united in this time of extreme adversity in the spirit of love\, reveren
ce and compassion. We will show our support as people of faith for these a
mazing young people as clearly and publicly as we can.\nAll of our faith t
raditions tell us that we must live up to the moral challenge of protectin
g our only home. There will be time for prayer and reflection and connecti
ng with our deepest values. At the end of the service there will be a call
to act on these values in practical terms. It will be open to people of a
ll faiths and none.\nThis service will be held via Zoom and also live stre
amed on social media. So\, you’ll be able to participate from home.\nAskin
g people in your congregation to be there\nThere are three ways to do this
. You can choose the one that suits you.\nOn Zoom - please use this option
if you can.\nPlease use this link: https://zoom.us/j/93368937522\nOr join
the Zoom call by phone on any of the following numbers:08 6119 390008 715
 0 114902 8015 601103 7018 200507 3185 3730\nMeeting ID: 933 6893 7522\nWat
ch live on the ARRCC Facebook page.\nWatch live on the ARRCC YouTube chann
el.Even though we may not be able to come together at our places of worshi
p\, we are each still part of a faith community. Let’s act together. If we
as people of faith around the country asked just a few friends from our o
wn congregations to participate\, we can make this thing huge.\nPlease sig
n up on the ARRCC website to register your interest in getting a few frien
ds from your faith community to come with you.\nSupporting the strike on s
ocial mediaThere's a very simple thing we can all do with build momentum f
or the strike over the next three weeks: ask people in your congregation t
o take a photo of themselves holding up a hand-held sign in support of the
school strikers and posting this on social media.\nPlease ask people you
know to wear something that identifies them as a person of faith - a praye
 r cap\, a crucifix\, mala beads or a kippah. If you’re talking to a religi
ous leader\, please ask them to wear formal religious attire. It can also
help to take the photo standing or sitting next to something religious- si
tting on a prayer mat or in meditation posture\, standing next to an image
or painting that is part of your faith tradition in some way\nEach sign s
hould communicate support for climate action. The exact wording is up to e
ach person. Ideally it should include a strong message that references one
of the climate strikers’ key demands. These demands are widely supported
by ARRCC and other groups working on climate change:\nNo new fossil fuel p
rojects\, including the Adani coal mine100% renewable energy by 2030A just
transition and job creation for all fossil fuel workers and communitiesPl
