 Creation Care workshop: Reframing climate and creation care communications

 ncil of Churches in Australia and the Anglican Church Southern Queensland 
 (ACSQ) are co-hosting a workshop for interested clergy\, communications st
 aff and church advocates on alternative climate and creation care messagin
 g.\nThe workshop is also open to church leaders (lay and ordained) and off
 ice bearers who are looking for a different approach to engage church memb
 ers around this issue.\nChristians care about God's Creation\; however\, f
 rom experience\, the message from many advocates\, including us in the Chu
 rch\, can inadvertently come across as out-of-touch\, negative\, judgmenta
 l\, problems-focused and even alienating to many Christians.\nThe workshop
  will provide participants with an alternative way to reframe climate and 
 creation care communications and conversations among Christians.\nThis alt
 ernative approach is centred around shared values\, positive framing and s
 olutions\, so that messaging emphasises hope and agency and is communicate
 d in a respectful and effective way.\nThe suggested reframed messaging has
  been developed to assist clergy and lay people involved in communications
  to more effectively engage Christians who are unsure where they stand or 
 may be ambivalent about the issue.\nFacilitators:\n\nPeter Branjerdporn (A

 can focus news editor and Catholic parishioner) and\nThe Very Rev’d Dr Pet
 er Catt (Anglican Dean of Brisbane).\n\nBrief outline of the workshop:\n\n
 Facilitators will share their climate advocacy learnings\, including theol
 ogical approaches.\nExamples of current messaging\, reframing principles a
 nd suggested alternatives will be discussed.\nParticipants will work in sm
 all groups (with assistance) to rewrite a sample message using the alterna
