On Saturday, 8 August 2015, the Casey Multi-Faith Network held a Meet the Artists Morning Tea at Doveton Library to promote and support the first ever Casey Multi-Faith Network Arts Exhibition.

The informal proceedings began with acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the land by Jim Reiher, the President of the Casey Multi-Faith Network. Mr Reiher welcomed the guests which comprised of members of the network, the artists, the staff and patrons of the Doveton Library and the City of Casey Council members, including Mayor Mick Morland, Councilor Wayne Smith and Councilor Damien Rosario. Mayor Mick Morland explained that the City of Casey prides itself on the cultural diversity of its residents who come from many parts of the world and bring their faiths with them. He praised the efforts of the Casey Multi-Faith Network in bringing people of different backgrounds together on a common platform. Cr Wayne Smith who is a supporter of the Arts in the wider community also expressed sentiments to support the works of the Network. Cr Damien Rosario highlighted that this exhibition reflected the rich cultural talent present in the City of Casey and appreciated the contribution of the Network in promoting understanding and social cohesion through the medium of art.

The artists, Sohail Yamin, Dena Aljamal and Oznur Ates also spoke about their personal experiences in the worlds of arts, and the significance of their artwork. Oznur Ates then shared her talent with a demonstration of the traditional Turkish Ebru art and then invited guests to try as well. Everyone wanted to have a turn and Oznur was no short of patience and smiles.

The Morning Tea was a great opportunity for people to make new acquaintances and network with one another. Many new friendships blossomed and will flourish in the coming months and weeks. It was overall a great informal event where many meaning conversations took place, and everyone enjoyed the refreshments.

The Exhibition is on display till 1 September 2015 at Doveton library, located at 24 Autumn Place, Doveton.
